Infidel by Ayaan Hrisi Ali

Emboldened by Ayaan Hrisi Ali A Woman Who Embodies Life Lived Out Loud, Without Fear by M. LaVora Perry

"If I were to falter in my determination in the face of persecutions by the sovereign,
however, it would be better not to speak out." -Nichiren
, "The Opening of the Eyes", The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol 1, p. 239

By the time I finish writing this article it may have a new name.
But it's coming sometime in the not-too-distant future... Meanwhile,
if you've read Ali's book, Infidel, and want to talk to me about it,
shoot me a line on my Wordpress.com blog: "Fear--It's So Yesterday
at mlavoraperry.wordpress.com. If you haven't read the book,
please, please do. -LaVora, July 17, 2008

Lessons Ayaan taught me:

1.) Honor your questions. Ignoring them, suppressing them, denying them--this
is living death.

2.) Don't be afraid to die--whether literally or figuratively.

3.) Honor your parents--even when they have hurt you.

4.) See.

5.) See it all--the good, the bad, the in between.

6.) Be yourself--if you don't, you'll be miserable.

7.) Labels are pointless. Only the truth matters.

8.) Care. And show that you do.

9.) Don't get caught up in worrying about what people think about you.
