Hello Ms. Perry,

…THANK YOU, so much, for writing Taneesha Never Disparaging. My daughter, Bella, is nine years old, and a fortune baby [born into a family that practices Nichiren Buddhism], along with her twin sister, Ana. We practice with the SGI in...Texas , and live in a small, rural town in the beautiful hills...

My daughters have both felt the pain of being different here, as many of their well-intentioned and concerned classmates have told them they are destined for hell if they don't go to church. I have used this opportunity to strengthen my faith and connect more deeply with our [purpose as students] of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda. As a result, the girls have kept their heads up high! They are proud Buddhists and love their friends. They now understand that religious differences are part of the beauty and texture of our communities, and I do, too!

After Bella read your book, she couldn't stop talking about it. She so deeply connected with Taneesha, and felt as though she was not alone! She also stood up (literally) for the first time in our...meeting, totally impromptu, and gave a full book report and [shared her personal] experience!!! She has the full attention of 12 adults who are now also big fans of yours!

Keep up the great work! We will read anything you write!

All the Best,

Carolyn (Mom), Isabella, and Ana

Dear M. LaVora Perry,
Read TANEESHA NEVER DISPARAGING reviews--including this one by 12 year-old Jenica.

I loved your book! What I really loved about it was that you describe everything so well and left out no details. So I was able to paint a perfect picture in my mind.

I would never want to put the book down because it’s exciting and you never know what's going to happen next. This book has inspired me because Taneesha stands up for her friend, and herself, and doesn't let a bully stop her. I also loved the ending. How she finds out what caused the bully to be in such bad moods. You can see cause and effect in action when the bully changes.

I hope this book gets a lot of people's attention because it will inspire them...and plus it's a great book.

Thank you so much.

Jenica
